Using these techniques you will produce your own simple artwork to take home.

The three-hour workshop is limited to 6 places and we need a minimum of 4 people attending to run the workshop.

Lust for Rust - A Special Effects Metallic Paint workshop - with Jane Michael

This two and a half hour workshop is an introduction to working with special effects metallic paint; the techniques involved and the surfaces it can be applied to.

Jane Michael, an artist with a Certificate IV in training and Assessment, will show you how to apply special effects paint and use different methods to create various patinas and oxidisation effects. You will then produce your own outdoor artwork to take home. If you have a piece of your own that you would like to work on you are welcome to bring it - but it's best to check with us first to make sure it's appropriate.

All materials and equipment are supplied. Children over the age of 14 can attend.  Please note, we recommend wearing older clothes on the day, as it can be a messy process!

Past workshops - Miniature Ceramic House Workshop - with Janelle Peterson

In this hands-on and experimental workshop, local ceramic artist, Janelle Peterson, will introduce you to the versatile technique of slab building. You will use stamping and found objects to create texture and learn how incorporate push molds to add interesting elements to your work and discover almost endless possibilities. You will also be taught joining and finishing techniques.

Using these techniques you will produce your very own collection of unique and handcrafted miniature ceramic houses. What you complete will then be dried, bisque fired and then glaze fired. Due to time constraints, Janelle will glaze your pieces for you, with the glazes you request on the day. Your work will be available to collect from Designer Dirt in 3 to 4 weeks.

The workshop is limited to 10 places and we need a minimum of 8 people attending to run the workshop.

Lend a hand to help Yarloop

A massive THANK YOU to everyone that joined us in helping the people of Yarloop rebuild their homes after the January bushfires by potting up plants and cuttings at our Busy Bee at Designer Dirt on Sunday 13th November between 10am and 4pm.

So many pots, plants and cuttings turned up, along with some very handy people! Around 80 volunteers potted up thousands of plants on the day.

Yarloop will definitely be a lot greener thanks to you all!

Special thanks to Australia Post for carting everything we planted up to Yarloop and Small Business Centre Great Southern and Oyster Harbour Store for smoko.
