I did the beginners welding class in the morning and also enjoyed the afternoon at the sculpting with scrap class. What a great day. We used our new welding skills and Ian's knowledge to find our sculpture and put it together. So much fun. So many options. Loved using the plasma cutter. Thank you Ian for your patience and being a great teacher. Thanks for sharing.

I bought both the beginners welding and welding art courses for my husband’s birthday hoping to get his creative juices flowing. He came home very enthusiastic to continue his new hobby and very proud of his windmill. I’m thrilled that he had such a good time and can’t wait to see what he creates next. Thank you so much for providing such a wonderful experience for him!

I did the welding for beginners and the Sculpting with Scrap courses. Both were absolutely fantastic, I learnt so much and got plenty of time to practice. Ian supplied all the materials we needed and was very generous with his time, he really knows his stuff and obviously loves what he does too. Thanks Jane for the coffee and biscuits every day. Both great courses that I would recommend to anyone.

Jane couldn’t not have been more helpful in assisting with the logistics of getting this incredible sculpture / fire pit all the way from Western Australia to the Hunter Valley! It’s beyond stunning and everyone is blown away by its beauty! An incredible piece of art that will bring much joy to our property for years to come!

We were a group of 5 friends who attended a privately organised Beginners Welding Workshop. Ian was a fabulous tutor imparting his knowledge and skills wrapped in humour over our 3 hour class, so we had lots of laughs with our learning! Jane supplied a lovely afternoon tea and is the person to contact if you wish to organise your own private workshop. A big thank you to both our hosts. 3 of us are booked in and looking forward to the Advanced Workshop happening in October 😀

Had Flatpack 3 raised garden beds 2m×1m×450mm high made by Ian and transported 500 km , arrived in great condition and took 2hrs to assemble the lot!,pre drilled holes and all screws including driver bit!, excellent results all round ,fair price as well! Could not be happier,well done designer dirt.

We love everything about our Designer Dirt 1.2m fire bowl including Jane’s amazing customer service. Nothing was too much trouble, the custom made plate & grill are sensational & the bowl itself is stunning 🤩

We bought a 1.2m fire bowl and it is an absolute ripper! This not only looks amazing, but the fire draws brilliantly and it lets of an incredible amount of heat. The steel in these bowls are so thick that I'm sure this will be handed down to our kids, and then their kids. We have even done some coal cooking in the base, and hung our camp oven over a make-shift frame over the top and cooked a delicious roast lamb. If you want something that looks great, and is versatile, get one of these fire bowls!

We attended the "Welding for Beginners" workshop, and it was the ideal introduction to welding. We had plenty of hands-on time with both stick and MIG welding, all while receiving excellent guidance. Ian was clear, patient and made sure we felt confident using the equipment. The highlight was definitely taking home our own snail sculpture at the end of the day - it was a fun and memorable experience! Highly recommend this workshop for anyone looking to get started in welding.

My mum and I attended the "Sculpting with Scrap" workshop in February and absolutely loved it! It was the perfect follow-on to the "Welding for Beginners" class. We brought some of our own scrap but also had plenty to choose from in Designer Dirt's treasure stash. Ian was a fantastic teacher - patient and knowledgeable - and we had the chance to put our welding skills to work. Jane was an amazing host, and those cookies were to die for! We left with a sculpture each that we're both really proud of. Highly recommend this creative, hands-on workshop!

The kids brought the Grevillea spinner for their dad's father's day and he loved it. We can see it from our kitchen window and adds an element of movement and is quite mesmerizing. The quality is solid and compliments the native garden we are trying to achieve. Its bronze finish gives a rustic yet sleek design which goes nicely with my uncles old farming gates.

Really enjoyed the 'Air Plant' workshop, great presenter, great atmosphere, fabulous guests. Welcomed with a coffee and smile. I would recommend Designer Dirt to everyone, some of my favourite garden pieces come from there.

Fabulous morning, It was brilliant. I was meant to come to this class the last time it was run, and got sick, I was sooooo disappointed that I missed out, but today was well worth the wait. I learnt loads, today and have some inspiration for some projects. It was very interesting. I'm happy with the ones I've gotten home today, hanging in my kitchen window, hopefully it will be their perfect happy place - protected from the heat from the fire place in my lounge, and good humidity and light, and no wind to traumatise them. Fingers crossed it is their Zen zone.

Absolutely great product and creates such a wow factor to any garden space and really creates a centre piece while still being practical too! I run a landscaping business up in Perth metro area, Jane and Ian are great to work with and freight all their products up. I recently attended the “Lust for Rust" workshop with Jane at Designer Dirt and it was fabulous. Jane is such a warm and approachable teacher who shares her knowledge generously. Her techniques save both time and material costs, and they are insights I never would have discovered just experimenting on my own. The creative possibilities and application opportunities are absolutely endless. The atmosphere throughout the session was wonderful, friendly, fun and relaxed, yet hands on and hugely rewarding. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone wanting to expand their painting techniques or enjoy creating unique rust effect pieces. A great value workshop!

I did the “Lust for Rust” workshop on the weekend with Jane and I’m hooked. I love anything “rusty” that has been made into art. It’s everywhere in my garden and on my walls out side. (yes most of it is from Designer Dirt). Jane’s class was amazing. We had a choice of 5 different objects. 3 different shaped pots and 2 different Buddha wall hangers. The simplicity of the technique is what go me and watching this black object turn into a gorgeous rusted piece WOW! You can use it on plastic, wood, pottery, metal basically any type of material, it truly is amazing stuff. I got home with my “masterpiece” and started looking around the property to see what else I can turn rusty :) I absolutely loved this workshop. Thanks Jane !
